ReticMaster - Application Environment
Industrial
ReticMaster caters for the modelling of typically 3.3kV to 11kV for MV and 231V & 400V for LV radial / limited meshed networks by representing the electrical MV cables and overhead lines of factories / mines / etc. Motor loads (starting or running) and other loads can be modelled.
Factories are concerned with protection co-ordination and thus must ensure that protection devices such as relays and fuses are correctly selected. Although this can be done by hand calculations, it is not easily achieved. Network operational studies during contingencies or planned maintenance are included. Reactive compensation, cable sizing and transformer capacity requirements are inclusive. Multiple sources and transformers can be accommodated directly.
Commercial
The modelling of typically 231V/400V to 11kV radial / limited meshed networks for building services. A combination of 3-phase and 1-phase systems would be applicable. Distribution Board circuit breaker fault levels and loading (balanced & unbalanced) are directly available.
Electrical Utility / Municipalities - Complete Analysis
The modelling of typically 231V/400V to 132kV radial / limited meshed networks. This application is very suitable for city and/or rural network analysis. The placement of voltage regulators, satellite substations, shunt capacitors etc, are simple routines. Planning studies for example, changes in load, voltage level, conductor sizes etc. are directly available. Network operational studies including independent source switching routines are also included
Power Utility and/or Municipality usage of RM
Electrical Engineers and Technicians using the software will be able to establish a complete model of the existing infrastructure which will put them in a position to rapidly do advanced network analysis. It is absolutely important to be able to analyse the effect new load will have on the network. This will ensure a power network that can adequately supply the increased demand.
The ability to calculate voltage drop, negative phase sequence voltages, load current and fault currents are essentials for any major electricity authority in the word today.
ReticMaster can effectively and quickly model the complete distribution network.
Training Tool
ReticMaster, due to its user-friendliness and yet advanced capability, acts as a brilliant education tool. The task of explaining technical concepts becomes visual and thus easier for the tutor to explain and simpler for the students to grasp.
Using Existing AutoCAD Drawings
It is possible to create communication between the AutoCAD drawings and ReticMaster using OLE (Object Linking & Embedding). This will enable the department to establish the required network model very quickly. Cad operators will continue using their familiar interface with only the addition of a limited number of data fields to ensure a functional simulation model. The CAD link will also prepare the department for any future conversion to AM/FM systems, if required.
